The perseverance of young people and the challenge of preserving democracy

More than 100 boys and girls have come together to present their work, full of ideas, proposals and reflections on Europe, at a key moment: the year of the European elections. Through this display of ingenuity and dedication, young people have demonstrated their commitment to the future of the continent and their willingness to contribute actively to the debate on its development.

In an era marked by uncertainty and challenges, it is comforting to see how the youth embrace the opportunity to participate in building a more promising future. Their work not only reflects their creativity and critical thinking, but also their determination to make their voices heard and influence the policies that affect their lives and future generations.

These young people, with their fresh ideas and their passion, are the real agents of change. Their work not only inspires, but also plants the seeds of a more inclusive, sustainable and democratic future for Europe and the world.

The Catalunya Europa Foundation celebrates and applauds the dedication and talent of these young people. Their work not only represents a valuable contribution to the debate on the future of Europe, but also a reminder of the crucial role that young people have to play in the preservation and advancement of democracy.

In an era where predictions have been challenged and history has taken it upon itself to correct the most steadfast theories, the perseverance of young people emerges as a beacon of hope for the future.

More than 30 years after the publication of "The End of History" by Francis Fukuyama, the younger generations are rising up to face the challenges that reality presents them.

Fukuyama's thesis, which proclaimed the triumph of liberal democracy as the end of ideologies and armed conflicts, has been rejected by the course of events and the growing inequalities that have been evident over time. The present and the future are not predestined, but determined by individual and collective actions.

It is in this context that the challenge of preserving and expanding democracy emerges. While the 20th century struggled to achieve it, the 21st century demands that new generations guarantee its continuity and universal extension. Democracy, despite its imperfections, is the only system that has proven to be able to combine social justice, freedom and equality.

The Catalunya Europa Foundation recognizes and celebrates the commitment of young people in this struggle. The awards are a testimony to the awareness and commitment of the participants in the preservation of democratic values. From this platform, it is encouraged to extend this commitment to every corner of the planet, ensuring that no person or sector is excluded from democracy and its benefits.

In conclusion, the future of democracy lies in the hands of the emerging generations.
