The winners of Young Europe 2024 visit the European institutions in Brussels



This Wednesday, September 11, the winners of the third edition of the Young Europe Award, convened by the Representation of the European Commission in Barcelona and the Catalunya Europa Foundation, traveled to Brussels to get to know the European institutions first hand.

Among them, the student Esteban del Campo Sierra, from Escola Manyanet Sant Andreu in Barcelona, ??highlighted as a winner thanks to his research work The European project and its need for transformation. He was accompanied by Mariona Mora Ortiz, from the Matadepera Institute and Ona Verdaguer Salvatella, from the Palau Girona Montessori School, who were awarded two runner-up prizes. 

During the two-day visit to the European capital, the award-winning young people will participate in various activities focused on the functioning of the European institutions and the debate on the current challenges of the European Union.



Their visit includes a meeting with MEPs Javi López and Jaume Asens, as well as a meeting with Jordi Harrison, patron of the Catalunya Europa Foundation and member of the Committee of the Regions. In addition, they have participated in the Changemakers for Democracy fair organized by Ashoka, coinciding with Democracy Day.

On Thursday, the young people continued their visit with a session at the Parlamentarium and the House of European History, to better understand the evolution of the European project. They also had the opportunity to talk with the journalist Júlia Manresa, author of the book published by the foundation The women in the shadow of European construction. The day will end with a reception at the Generalitat delegation in Brussels, where they will have contact with Catalan civil society in the European capital.
