How can Europe protect democracy in times of disinformation and digital manipulation? Which strategies work to ensure a critical citizenry with access to reliable, high-quality information?
As part of the “Europe Thinks” debate series, organised by the Fundació Catalunya Europa and the Goethe-Institut Barcelona, this discussion will explore how public institutions, the media, and civil society can strengthen the informational resilience of the European Union without undermining freedom of expression or media pluralism.
We will discuss digital literacy, the need for transparent European platforms, responsible algorithms, and ways to foster a media culture that makes us less vulnerable to fake news and polarising echo chambers.
