Cafè Europa and La Mirada del Colpis Europe Facing the Attack on Iran: Interests vs Values
On 28 February, the United States carried out an attack on Iran. It is yet another military action added to an already unstable and conflict?ridden international context, where the rules of international law seem no longer to apply and the norms of global geopolitics are increasingly blurred. This month’s Cafè Europa, organised jointly with Colpis — the College of Political Science and Sociology Professionals of Catalonia — and its podcast La Mirada del Colpis, will analyse the conflict. We will look at how the European Union is addressing it and how its discourse on this war is opening divisions among Member States.
“Europe Facing the Attack on Iran: Interests vs Values,” which will take place on Friday, 27 March at 9 a.m., online via Zoom, aims to provide key insights into the political situation in Iran prior to the US attack and how this action affects the Ayatollahs’ regime. The conflict has regional and global implications, including for the EU. What response should we expect? To explore these questions, the discussion will feature Ryma Sheermohammadi, analyst and activist of Iranian origin, and Lurdes Vidal, expert in international relations specialising in the MENA region and the Islamic world.
