A book of Jordi Amat and an article of Oriol Nel·lo

The Battles of Barcelona

Board member Oriol Nel·lo has written a commentary on Jordi Amat’s book, from which he draws several reflections and identifies its purpose. As he writes in his article, The Battles of Barcelona, he reflects on the limits of local policies in a globalised world and on how dependent the Catalan capital is on worldwide flows of capital, information, goods, and people.

Oriol Nel·lo also notes that Amat’s book asks at what moment and for what reasons the attempt to build “the democratic city” may have given way to the progressive “dispossession of the city”; and it raises the question of continuity or rupture in the urban policies implemented in the city of Barcelona.
