The Catalunya Europa Foundation presents the book Women in the Shadow of European Construction, by journalist Júlia Manresa, at the Library of the European Parliament in Brussels. The event will feature the author herself and Lina Gálvez, MEP and Chair of the European Parliament’s Committee on Women’s Rights and Gender Equality. Airy Maragall, president of the Catalonia Europe Foundation - Pasqual Maragall Legacy, will also participate in the presentation.

The book is the result of Manresa’s master’s thesis, which was awarded the Pasqual Maragall Legacy Prize in 2023. The work highlights the fundamental —yet often overlooked— role of various women in building the European project, offering a critical and feminist perspective that calls for a more accurate and inclusive memory of the Union.

To promote broader access to this important research, the Foundation has facilitated translations into Spanish and English, and will donate several copies to the European Parliament Library so they are available to both MEPs and the general public.

An opportunity to hear from experts who shed light on the untold stories of Europe and invite us to rethink its future through a more equitable and plural lens.
